Double Muscling and Speckle Park

Double Muscling(DM) is the result of mutations of the gene which is responsible for producing the protein myostatin which inhibits muscle from growing without limit.  When myostatin is not produced in a normal manner animals become excessively heavy muscled.  This excessive heavy muscling comes with many characteristics some of which may have advantages in certain markets and environments and other characteristics which may render animals dysfunctional in certain environments.  To view a presentation on double muscling and Speckle Park click here.  (PDF format)
